Gaming Industry Business Leader Receives National Recognition
MGM MIRAGE's Felix Rappaport is Recognized by the National Network of Sector Partners

LAS VEGAS – November 19, 2007- Felix Rappaport, Luxor Hotel and Casino President and Chief Operating Officer, was recently named the "2007 Trailblazer of the Year" by the National Network of Sector Partners (NNSP). The award was presented at NNSP's national conference in Denver.

Annually, NNSP selects individuals from its member organizations who demonstrate leadership in the development of strategies to address community issues. Rappaport was recognized for his role and efforts to address hospitality workforce needs in Southern Nevada as part of his role as Chairman of the Board for the Culinary Training Academy (CTA) in Las Vegas.

"Felix is well deserving of the 2007 Trailblazer Award," said Steven Horsford, Chief Executive Officer of the CTA. "His leadership, commitment and willingness to lead by example are helping to prove that joint labor and management partnerships work best for all stakeholders including employers, workers and the community-at-large."

"I'm honored to receive this national recognition from the National Network of Sector Partners," said Rappaport. "The Las Vegas hospitality industry will continue to grow and prosper as our employees develop the skills they need at all levels of the career ladder to grow as well."

According to Horsford, Rappaport's accomplishments include: providing the leadership to develop and implement sector-based workforce strategies; the launch of a $10 million capital campaign to expand and grow the CTA; and the implementation of the first analytical review of the hospitality sector designed to identify the number of hospitality workers and the types of skills that would be needed through the year 2020.

The CTA is the largest joint labor and management hospitality training partnership in the country and currently trains 3,000 individuals per year for careers in the hospitality industry. For more information on the CTA, please visit www.theculinaryacademy.org.
