MGM MIRAGE Recognized as One of Nevada’s “Best Companies to Work For” by Nevada Business Journal
LAS VEGAS – MGM MIRAGE has been named one of Nevada’s “Best Companies to Work For” by Nevada Business Journal. The gaming and hospitality company was recognized for providing top quality employee benefits such as retirement and employee assistance programs, health insurance, tuition reimbursement, on-site daycare and training initiatives that address the needs of a diverse workforce.
“We are proud of this designation as it reflects our commitment to our employees - - our single greatest asset,” said Terry Lanni, MGM MIRAGE Chairman and CEO.
According to the publication, the quality of corporate employee benefits programs was a key factor in being named to the list, however, the caliber and availability of training programs were also important considerations. “Training not only ensures people can do their jobs properly, but it also teaches skills they’ll need to move up in the organization,” said human resources expert Chuck Stafford, who was instrumental in naming Nevada’s “best” companies.
At MGM MIRAGE, various programs are offered to help employees enhance their on-the-job skills. Also, there are programs that help employees hone their management and leadership skills. These include MGM Grand’s REACH, an intensive six-month supervisory training program; TAKE FLIGHT, a six-month training program that helps develop leadership skills by exposing first-level management participants to senior executives at Primm Valley Resorts; and Bellagio’s Executive Mentoring Program, a nine-month program designed to prepare high potential management-level employees for advancement to executive management positions.
MGM MIRAGE was named one of the “best companies to work for” following a study of employee benefits programs at various companies in Nevada. Participating companies were invited to complete an online survey about their employee benefits offerings and to provide information about employee engagement in charitable activities.
Through the MGM MIRAGE Voice Foundation, the company donates to numerous charities throughout Southern Nevada. Additionally, the Foundation disburses employee donations to charitable organizations in all of the communities where its employees live and work. The company underwrites all administrative expenses associated with managing and operating the Voice Foundation, ensuring that one hundred percent of employees’ contributions benefit their intended recipients. Since its inception in 2002, the Voice Foundation has donated more than $12 million to charities.
