Mississippi Minority Business Alliance Presents MGM MIRAGE with Minority Business Champion Award
LAS VEGAS –October 28, 2006– The Mississippi Minority Business Alliance presented MGM MIRAGE with its Minority Business Champion Award at the organization’s 6th Annual Minority Business Gala. MGM MIRAGE was recognized for its continued commitment to minority business development and innovative procurement practices. In Mississippi, MGM MIRAGE owns and operates the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi and the Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica.
In 2001, MGM MIRAGE formalized its voluntary diversity initiative. Shortly thereafter, the company adopted a policy requiring minority bid participation in all contracts and purchases exceeding $1,000. Additionally, the company created the Purchasing Diversity Committee, comprised of purchasing directors and buyers companywide, which meets monthly to share ideas and best practices.
