Press Releases MGM MIRAGE Named one of the 2008 "Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces in America" LAS VEGAS-May 14, 2008- For the second consecutive year, MGM MIRAGE has been named one of the “Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces in America” by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption (DTFA). MGM MIRAGE is ranked third in the hotel and travel industry and is the only gaming company on the list. The DTFA is dedicated to increasing the adoptions of children in the foster care system. The list debuted in 2007, and recognizes the top 100 organizations that provide exceptional support to employees who adopt. In 2005, MGM MIRAGE instituted a benefit that provides eligible employees with $2,500 per child to assist with the financial cost of adoption. Currently, the maximum benefit is $5,000 per family. Rankings for the “Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces in America” list are based on the amount of financial assistance and paid leave provided. To determine the “Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces in America,” the foundation evaluated 919 U.S. employers. In addition to ranking the top 100, the foundation also recognized the top 10 by size, the leaders of each industry, and companies who support the cause of adoption and adoptive families in other ways.
