MGM MIRAGE Recognized as one of
"America's Top Organizations for Multicultural Business Opportunities"
LAS VEGAS – May 7, 2008 - MGM MIRAGE was recently named as one of "America's Top Organizations for Multicultural Business Opportunities," by DiversityBusiness.com. The company is ranked forty-second among various Fortune 1000 companies, government agencies and higher education institutions.
DiversityBusiness.com is the nation's primary resource portal that works to match small businesses with purchasing agents who represent large organizations. These include over 600,000 diversity-owned businesses in the U.S. in sectors such as technology, manufacturing, food service and professional services.
The list was established to recognize the top 50 corporate and organizational buyers of diversity products and services throughout the U.S.
To select its "Top Organizations," DiversityBusiness.com asked more than 600,000 diversity-owned businesses to participate in an online election. Factors such as the volume, consistency and quality of business opportunities granted to women and minority-owned businesses, were evaluated.
In 2006, MGM MIRAGE spent $150 million in biddable goods and services with minority-, women- and disadvantaged-owned business enterprises (MWDBEs). Also, under the leadership of its dedicated supplier diversity team, the company biannually hosts diversity business expositions. This month, the company will host an expo in Las Vegas and another one next month at its MGM Grand Detroit property, in an effort to attract new qualified vendors with which to conduct business. At the expos, booths will be staffed by buyers and decision-makers from properties and corporate departments to meet with qualified suppliers interested in providing services to the company. The company has been noted for its supplier diversity programs, including receiving recognition by Black Enterprise Magazine as one of its "15 Best Companies for Supplier Diversity."
