MGM Grand Ranks 28th in Training Magazine’s Top 125

LAS VEGAS –March 8, 2007- Training magazine has ranked MGM Grand University as one of the leading institutions in the U.S. for employee training and development programs. Ranked 28th out of 125 companies, MGM Grand is the only major casino hotel to make the list for the second consecutive year. The Training Top 125 ranks organizations for excellence in training and development programs.

MGM Grand ranked 29th on the 2006 Training Top 100 as a first-time applicant. This year, the magazine added 25 more companies to the list due to increasing competition and excellence in learning and development programs within corporate environments.

"The award recognizes MGM Grand’s commitment to a culture of learning that values and nurtures the unique talents of our employees," said MGM Grand President and COO Gamal Aziz.

MGM Grand was recognized for programs that provide advancement opportunities for employees such as the Leadership Institute, REACH, MAP (Management Associates Program), and Manager On-Boarding. The MGM Grand University also offers free computer classes, English-as-a-Second Language (ESL), Life Skills Training, GED certification, career coaching, and internship programs, to name a few.

MGM Grand is also the recipient of one of six Outstanding Training Initiative awards for the MGM Grand University’s Shared Services model. This model was created following MGM MIRAGE’s merger with Mandalay Resort Group in April 2005, wherein the University developed a strategic training integration plan with property executives that focused on communicating, customizing, executing, and evaluating learning and organizational development programs and processes. The objective was to align learning outcomes with business goals. Today employees at MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Luxor and The Signature have access to a vast array of learning programs designed to grow talent within the company. According to Training magazine, each company’s ranking is based on quantitative and qualitative data and other key criteria, including financial commitment, programs offered, methods of evaluation, turnover, percentage of payroll tied to training, budgets and more. An outside research and statistical data company, under the guidance of Training magazine, scores companies and then Training editors subjectively review each application.

The MGM Grand University Leadership Institute was established by MGM Grand President and Chief Operating Officer Gamal Aziz in 2002. It was created to help the company’s "rising stars" develop their knowledge of the gaming and hotel business, financial strategy, national and international marketing and tribal gaming. Classes are taught by top executives from MGM MIRAGE, as well as visiting professors, and business and government leaders.
