MGM MIRAGE Executive Recognized as one of the “Most Important Hispanics in Technology”
LAS VEGAS – Jan. 29, 2008 – Myrna Soto, MGM MIRAGE Vice President of Information Technology Governance & Chief Information Security Officer, has been named one of the “Most Important Hispanics in Technology” by Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology magazine (HE & IT).
In her role, Soto is responsible for the oversight of the MGM MIRAGE Information Technology Governance group, which includes technology compliance, project management, Six Sigma practice, and information security. Soto leads a team of 80 IT professionals in addition to 30 consultants and contractors.
“Soto was selected from hundreds of candidates in government, academia, and corporate America,” said Craig Johnson of HE & IT. “She was chosen based on her progressive leadership responsibilities, achievements in helping to advance access to technology, demonstrated effectiveness in engaging technology within the global market economy, and her contributions to furthering technical literacy within the Hispanic community.”
According to a recent study by the nonprofit Commission on Professionals in Science and Technology, Hispanics make up 13 percent of the U.S. workforce but hold only 5 percent of the high-tech jobs.
