Press Releases FMGM MIRAGE to Sponsor Fourth Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration at UNLV LAS VEGAS – Jan. 18, 2008 – For the third consecutive year, MGM MIRAGE will be the presenting sponsor of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) on Monday, Jan. 28 at 12:00 p.m. Rev. Dr. Michael Eric Dyson will provide the keynote address. “Dr. Dyson is a contemporary and provocative speaker whose discussion of race, politics and pop culture will be a timely topic,” said Debra Nelson, MGM MIRAGE Vice President for Corporate Diversity, Communications & Community Affairs. Dr. Dyson, the author of 15 published books, holds a Ph.D. in Religion from Princeton University. He has been dubbed “the Hip-Hop Intellectual” for his pioneering academic research of rap music. In May, he was named one of the 100 Most Influential African Americans by Ebony Magazine. MGM MIRAGE first partnered with UNLV to present the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration in 2006. By highlighting Dr. King’s work, MGM MIRAGE and UNLV aim to promote diversity and unity in the Las Vegas community.
